Part 1: Career Objectives and the Role of the Scholarship

My name is Ini-iso Dominic Essien, a 200-level student of Radiography and Radiation Science at the University of Uyo. My career goal is to become a professional radiographer who contributes to healthcare through accurate medical imaging and patient care.

Radiography is more than just taking pictures of the body; it is about helping doctors make the right diagnosis and saving lives. My long-term aim is to specialize in advanced imaging techniques and also contribute to research that can improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

The course I am studying is five years long and very demanding, both academically and financially. Sometimes it is difficult to balance my studies with the financial challenges of paying fees, getting textbooks, and meeting daily needs.

There are times when I have to rely on online materials because I cannot afford all the recommended textbooks. Receiving this scholarship will go a long way in easing these struggles. It will give me peace of mind to focus on my studies and practical training, knowing that I have financial support. It will also encourage me to put in more effort, because I will see it as a trust invested in me.

This opportunity will help me achieve my dream of becoming a radiographer who not only works in hospitals but also mentors younger students to believe in their goals.

Part 2: Building a Resilient Nigerian Economy: From Farm Security to Digital Empowerment.

Nigeria is a blessed country with many natural and human resources, but building a resilient economy requires us to be intentional. I strongly believe that food security is the first step. A hungry nation cannot be productive. If our farmers are supported with modern equipment, storage facilities, and easy access to markets, they will produce more, reduce wastage, and make food available and affordable. This will also create jobs for rural communities.

On the other hand, digital empowerment is the future of our economy. As a student, I already see how powerful digital tools are. I use online platforms to access lecture notes, medical journals, and videos that explain radiographic procedures better than what I get in class sometimes.

This has helped me improve in my studies even when resources are limited. In the same way, young entrepreneurs can use digital skills to promote their businesses, farmers can use technology to get better prices for their crops, and health workers can reach more patients through telemedicine.

For me, resilience means combining farm security with digital empowerment. When agriculture is strong and supported by technology, we can fight hunger, create jobs, and also make Nigeria more competitive in the global market.

My personal approach is to keep developing myself through education and digital skills so that in the future, I can contribute not only to healthcare but also to Nigeria’s overall development.

The economy we desire tomorrow depends on the actions we take today
